Hey--what's the best sounding version of this show?--meaning POST PAVILLION 6-30-85--

There are 4 choices available and i'm confused by the varying reviews (especially on the SBD version--i've seen 1 to 5 stars based on sound--) on which is best...i just wanna grab that Shakedown if it's really worth it....(better than 10-25-79?)

The sbd is pretty nice, though Phil's bass clips a little at times, this also means he's way up in the mix. It's not the clearest board tape, but it's passable:

That said, do check out the Oade brothers audience recording. It's not as good as their pull from 11/1/85, but it's still got a real nice atmosphere to it, and good quality. Which one's best is a matter of preference. I usually go with the aud on this one:

If you have broadband, you can sample the shows pretty quickly to find your preference, a luxury that still blows my mind every time.

Oh and this Shakedown at least compares favorably to 11/25/79, which is just a funk monster. 6/30/85 doesn't have the same out-and-out funk to it, but it grooves really hard, and Jerry's on. I also like 9/10/91 with Branford- another unique, well-jammed Shakedown.

I don't think you'll want your time back after listening to this one, though.

Much thanks, Elkdog...A good Shakedown is always time well spent (I like that Branford one, too...I like everything he did w/the boys, especially the 3-29-90 EYES).
